Artistic Statement

Photography has taught me to slow down and SEE what is there around me, both with and without my camera.
My initial passion was and still is capturing flying birds and bird behavior.
I have bee photographing for more than 30 years, and now that I am retired, my photographs have evolved to less realistic and more impressionistic and abstract. How does the image affect me emotionally and how can I express that to others viewing my photography?
To quote the writer, Eowyn Ivey in her book, The Bright Edge of the World, “The purpose of art is to bring into focus something that cannot be defined. A picture does something that words cannot.” She was describing the photographic work of Sophia Forrester.
